Raceway Park to Hold Free Pro Practice for East Coast AMA Nationals

May 23, 2011- Englishtown, NJ – Raceway Park, the Northeast’s premier motorsports facility in Englishtown, New Jersey, will offer free Wednesday practices to all professional riders who qualified for the 2010 Nationals.

Raceway Park would like to extend to all riders who currently hold a pro license from the AMA, the ability to practice for free during the 2011 Racing season.  This offer will be good for any Wednesday Race Track practice before an East Coast Pro National Round.  To take advantage of this offer you must have either qualified into the top 40 at any one of the 2010 or 2011 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Nationals or have an AMA Pro ranking of 100 or less.   Rider must show proof of qualifying by printing out and showing a copy of a “Final Entry List,” which can be found at  HYPERLINK “http://www.allisports.com/motocross/race-results” http://www.allisports.com/motocross/race-results.  A letter from the AMA stating your national pro number is also a valid form of ID.

“This is a great for us to give back to the racing community and show the top riders that we have the best facility on the East Coast,” says track manager Carl Anderson.  “Our Race Track, which is open for practice every Wednesday of the month, will condition riders and get them ready for the big show, better than any other track out there.

Raceway Park’s Race Track, one of three tracks in the facility, offers nearly three-minute lap times and is constantly changing to help keep riders in peak conditioning.  It’s legendary 7 story high step-up jump, mix of loam, sand and clay soils, 100 foot plus tables and sweeping corners that you just lay the bike over in, give the riders every possible scenario to train like the top guys.   And to top it all off, when this track gets rough, it simulates any national track on the circuit.

Raceway Park is centrally located in Englishtown, New Jersey just one hour Southwest of New York City.  It is 3.5 hours South of Southwick MX338, 3 hours North of Budds Creek, 4 hours Southeast of Unadilla and 5.5 hours from Steel City and High Point.  Its facility is RV friendly with plenty of parking with overnight camping and just minutes from the major restaurants and hotels.   Please go to  http://www.racewaypark.com for more information, date and weather conditions.  Practice Here, Win Anywhere.

Series Statistics – On Site:

Despite the tough economy, our onsite live attendance has been up at every event over 2009. Fans have enjoyed increased VIP viewing platforms and better sight lines throughout the tracks. For 2010, as an added attraction for our fans, many tracks now allow open pits. Open pits allows our fans the opportunity to get up close and personal with their favorite riders and teams and to see the spectacular and colorful spectacle that is the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

Most of these participants will camp and spend the entire weekend at the track, while bringing various friends and family along as well.

Series Statistics – Internet:

One of our biggest draws for non-attending fans is our live and free showing of the first motos on AlliSports.com. These viewership numbers show that AMA Motocross has a dedicated worldwide fan base that tunes in each Saturday.

Motocross on AlliSports.com to date represents over 238,000 total streams and an average of 40,000 visits to the site each race day in order to view the live stream. Site traffic is up substantially as well, with users spending nearly 34 minutes on the site per visit.

MX Sports Pro Racing, in conjunction with Racer X Illustrated and AlliSports.com, also produces a series of weekly recap videos, which are designed to summarize the action and keep fans updated on the major happenings at each event. Hosted by Jason Weigandt and produced by Racer X‘s Matt Francis, these videos have proven to be very popular.

Also, the online viewership numbers do not reflect the series-related video content being produced by other media partners like Transworld Motocross, Vurb Moto, Vital MX, Cycle News, Racer X, and more.

Budd’s Creek Race Report

Words and Images by Scott Lukaitis

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. (June 19, 2010) Within miles of the nations capital Mechanicsville, Maryland played host to Round 4 of the Lucas Oils AMA National motocross series. The MotoTees Budd’s Creek National returned to its customary Father’s Day Weekend event for 2010 and the the thousands of fans on hand were treated to great racing action including yet another first time visitor to the top step of the podium. With temperatures in the 90′s and humidity just as high only the most fit riders would prevail.

A sign of things to come

450 Motocross

Honda Red Bull Racing’s Andrew Short grabbed the holeshot in moto #1 with the Jagermeister/KTM 350 of Mike Alessi and Geico Powersports’s Honda backed in third. With a clear track in front Short began setting the pace and quickly dropped the field. Current points leader Ryan Dungey was a little further back early but quickly worked his Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki behind Alessi but went down trying to make the pass. He was quickly back up but he was now without his goggles. This forced Dungey to look for alternate lines while attacking Alessi the rest of the moto. Short was comfortably out front when the checkered flag fell with Alessi in second and the still charging Dungey in third.

First moto winner Andrew Short

First moto winner Andrew Short

The second moto again saw Short grab the early lead but this time Dungey and Monster Energy/Kawasaki’s Chad Reed hot on his rivals heels. Dungey got by first moto winner Short and started to check out. Reed remained in second keeping an eye on Dungey but he was never able to close and pressure the points leader. After a first moto 14th place finish Troy Lee Designs/Honda Ben Townley was locked in a battle with the Muscle Milk/Toyota/JGR/Yamaha of Josh Grant. Grant’s first moto 5th could have put him on the podium overall but Townley dug deep and despite Grant getting around the Kiwi Townley got back by and would grab the final step on the podium.

250 Motocross

Rookie sensation Geico Powersports/Honda mounted Eli Tomac grabbed the early lead in moto 1 but the Monster Energy/Kawasaki of Frenchman Christophe Pourcel was quickly around Tomac and checking out on the field. Behind Pourcel, DNA Shredstix/Star Racing/Yamaha backed Max Anstie got around Tomac and settled in for second place. Meanwhile back in the pack another Monster Energy/Kawasaki was making a move through the pack. Tyla Rattray was working hard and picking off riders on his charge to the front. With just a couple of laps to go, Anstie hit the deck and crashed his way off the podium. Rattray was rewarded for his effort and would end up second for the moto with a charging Geico Powersports/Honda Justin Barcia in third.

Christophe Pourcel

First moto winner Christophe Pourcel

Moto 2 took off with Lucas Oils/Troy Lee Designs/Honda mounted Wil Hahn out front followed by the field. Monster Energy/Kawasaki mounted Dean Wilson got by Hahn early on and set off stretching his lead on the field. First moto winner Pourcel was off the pace and Rattray and Barcia locked horns to do battle. Throughout the Rattray would be close to Barcia but a error near the end of the moto, when going for the pass, put Rattray off the racing line Barcia got the gap he needed. Wilson cruised the rest of the moto and despite Barcia closing at the end he would take his first ever National moto win. Wilson’s 4-1 finishes gave him the overall as well, followed in second by Barcia and Rattray in third.

NJ @ the Nationals

lucas oil nationals logoAfter  this weekend’s race in Texas the Lucas Oil AMA National Motocross series takes its swing east and several local riders are joining the chase.

After emailing several of the riders who have competed over the last several seasons it looks like the following list will be at some, if not all of the local rounds beginning at Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania.

Dave Ginolfi

Dakota Kessler

Bryan Wallace

Ryan Gainey

Adam Blessing

Anthony Roth

Todd Stavac

and Ronnie Stewart

Make sure you cheer them on from the side of the fence when ever you see them this season.
