Over the last couple of winters I’ve had the opportunity to scan some old issues of Raceway News. Some issues are ones that my dad has saved over the years and some were on loan to me from Joel Dengler and George Trapani.
Enjoy the trip down memory lane.
Here is part three in a series.
Back in the day Pete Hichens was one of the top expert racers in the area. In his only professional race ever Pete finished third in the 125 East Coast class @ Giants Stadium. Look for more from Pete here on NJ Motocross in the future.
In 1985 Jay Irwin started his motocross career at Raceway Park. Today Jay can be found selling cars at Irwin Lincoln Mercury Mazda in Freehold.
Mickey Kessler was the man to beat in both the 250 and 450 Expert classes.
In 1985 Mark Lachowicz was another guy to beat @ Raceway Park and around District 6. You can visit Mark today at his family restaurant, The Franklinville Inn . Tell him NJ Motocross sent you.
