NJOHVA Action Alert

Check out this letter I just got from the NJOHVA. It talks about the possibility of 3 new riding parks in New Jersey. Take action NOW!!

Dear NJ Motocross Reader,

NJOHVA was successful in helping get legislation passed at the beginning of this year. This legislation instructed the NJ DEP to build three(3) parks in NJ. And as my colleagues said, this is only the first step and we MUST stay vigilant !!! NJOHVA joined a coalition of national organizations. The coalition, comprised of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), New Jersey Off Highway Vehicle Association (NJOHVA), Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) and the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America (SVIA), has asked the NJ DEP Commissioner Bob Martin to expeditiously implement a new law that could provide responsible motorized recreation opportunities. Our partner AMA was kind enough to publish an Action Alert and I am asking each and every one of you to take a minute or two and follow the enclosed link to AMA`s action alert to send a letter to Commissioner Martin, and forward it to any and all to ask them to also send a letter. It`s easy-the letter is already written for you.

Folks we are rounding the last turn and the finish line is in sight………………..let’s not lose it now…..it`s close we can smell it….what do you say ? ..let`s taste it………

http://capwiz.com/amacycle/issues/alert/?alertid=15020441&type=CU&show_alert=1

The New Jersey riding community needs to push this message and encourage everyone to contact DEP, either by utilizing the pre-written email or creating their own. If we do this effectively, the DEP will be responsive.

I strongly suggest NJOHVA and local dealers push this pre-written email effort to everyone they know. The local riding community needs to encourage everyone they know to contact DEP.

The riding community must come together as a strong, unified body. Let’s make our voice heard by flooding the DEP office with messages. Encourage everyone you know to send an email or print and physically mail the letter, and tell their friends to do the same. Let’s take full advantage of this opportunity now and do it well!

Thanks

JP

Where Can I Ride in NJ? NJOHVA Can Help

Working in powersports dealers in New Jersey for all of my adult life I often hear from customers that there is no place to ride in New Jersey. And except for the couple of race tracks (Atco and Englishtown) they are correct. Sure there are tons of sand pits and back yard places that you can ride, some legal some not, but for the most part New Jersey is void of an established riding park.

Over the past couple of years a movement has been growing steam to help change that. But more often than not anytime there is a proposed location the local and not so local environmental lobbyist get involved and squash the proposal eliminating your riding park. Sure the local towns will go out and build a baseball or football field and even make your once favorite riding area a nature preserve and your tax dollars go to pay for it.

One of the key factors in getting this changed requires action. You can no longer sit on the couch and say “someone should build a riding park”. It is now time for action, otherwise the sport of off road riding will be gone for good. That’s right, many towns have looked at and passed ordinances across the country eliminating off road vehicle access. That means no more riding your ATV or dirt bike.

But what about on my property you may say? Well there too they can pass an ordinance banning the use on your own property. Think that can’t happen….well it already has.

Now is the time to get involved. This is where NJOHVA or the New Jersey Off Highway Vehicle Association gets involved. Coupled with your local powersports dealers NJOHVA is out there fighting the fight to get bills passed and land organized to create riding parks in the state.

You can get involved first by joining NJOHVA through the link provided below:

NJOHVA Membership Link

Then by participating in the  “Action Alerts” sent out via email. These alerts often are simply requests to pass along an email or letter to your state representatives requesting their action on your behalf with regards to your OHV rights. Sometimes they are alerts notifying you about a town council meeting about a proposed riding area or other OHV issue. Spend the time to get involved.

Lastly learn about the proposals and issues facing you as an OHV enthusiast. Only by each individual getting involved can we as a group make OHV use available in the state.

For more about NJOHVA visit their website at the link below

NJOHVA Website

And if your local dealer and riding buddies aren’t aware of this group please let them know about it.

We need all the support we can get if we hope to continue our ATV and Dirt Bike use in the state.

Thank you for your support.

2010 BAD BOYS OF ARENACROSS SERIES Returns to Trenton…This Weekend

NJ Motocross will be on site Saturday night covering the race for this website as well as Cycle News Online.

Press Release from Checkered Flag Productions

The 2010 BAD BOYS OF ARENACROSS SERIES returns to the SUN NATIONAL BANK CENTER (most recently known as the Sovereign Bank Arena) in Trenton, New Jersey Friday and Saturday nights January 8th and 9th for two incredible nights. This is the first time in two years and the spectators and racers in New Jersey and western Pennsylvania are excited.

There are 3 chances to race or see them with the first event beginning Friday night January 8th at 7:30pm and then twice on Saturday. The first race on Saturday is the qualifier heats as part of the show on 2pm and then again Saturday night at 7:30pm for the finals

The crew from Checkered Flag Productions will design a track that is challenging to the Pro Riders but safe enough for the Amateurs to race on also. Professional riders, some with factory backing from Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and KTM will be going at it big bucks and who knows they just might use each other for traction! If you think the amateur riders will race any easier think again. With motorcycles flying through the air off jumps and banging handlebars through the corners the edge of your seat will be all you will use.

To add to the excitement BIGFOOT and his buddies are there to race side by side and will probably line-up and jump the AX triple jump.

New Jersians in Canada

cmrcpromotocrosslogo_tnOver the past couple of weeks 2 New Jersey racers have been traveling north of the border in an attempt to make their mark on the Canadian motocross scene. Round 5 was held at Gopher Dunes in Ontario Canada on July 19th. Mt Holly Racing teammates Ryan Gainey and Bryan Wallace finished in the top 20 overall in the premier MX1 class. Wallace’s 15-16 moto finishes netted him 16th overall while Gainey’s 20-18 motos earned him 20th overall.

Held at Ste-Thecle in Quebec round 6 was held under torrential rains and forced the normal 2 moto format to be shortened to just one moto. Wallace was able to survive the quagmire and finished 17th. Gainey was able to get a good start and was rewarded for his hard work with 5th place. The best ever finish by a New Jersey rider in Canadian motocross.

Despite competing in only 2 events both riders are in the top 25 in the overall points standings. Gainey sits in 21st while Wallace is in 25th.
